Family Advisory Council (FAC)
Mission
The mission of the Family Advisory Council (FAC) is to help make students and their families the center of the school. The FAC serves to increase communication between families and staff and to help raise student achievement.
The YWLCS organizes a number of programs throughout the school year in which students' families are invited to come to the school. At these events, families get to meet the faculty and staff, get to know other YWLCS students and their families, and learn about the exciting learning that is going on. The programs include Family Math Night, Family Reading Night, Family Barbeque, Family Holiday Potluck and the annual Math/Science/Tech Fair.
How does it work?
The FAC is made up of a core group of parents/guardians, staff, and chairs of the various committees. The FAC is open to all parents and families interested in shaping the ways in which parents can and should be involved in the educational process at YWLCS.

Committees
Family and School Communication
The goal of this committee is to increase reciprocal communication between the school and families.
Extra-Curricular
The goal of this committee is to support current events as scheduled by the school personnel and recommend and coordinate future programs.
Educational Programs
The goal of this committee is to help all students succeed in the day-to-day curriculum.
Fundraising
The goal of this committee is to support current fundraising efforts and recommend/coordinate future efforts.
8th Grade Committee
The goal of this committee is to support issues specific to the 8th grade.
Roles and Responsibilities
Committee members
- Attend regular committee meetings as determined by the committee and take an active role in the actualization of committee goals.
Committee Chairs
- Facilitate regular committee meetings as determined by the committee and report back in the FAC monthly meetings.
- Take an active role in the actualization of committee goals.
FAC liaison
- Coordinate and facilitate FAC monthly meetings.
- Monitor progress of committees.
- Attend and participate in Board of Directors’ Meetings.
- Take an active role in the actualization of committee goals
